やめて!馬鹿にされるから!

An admonishment I hear from wife until when I used Mikawa-ben  (三河弁)when I speak  Japanese.

Mikawa for those not familiar, is the area just west of the city of Nagoya.  It is  regarded by other Japanese, as somewhat as a joke/butt of jokes, which extends to the local dialect, but hey, its also the home of Toyota Motor Corporation and that I believe ain’t so shabby folks.

As I spent most of my life in Japan there (in the beginning it was Kansai and I probably spoke with a Kansai ben accent but..) the intonation and vocabulary just naturally flows into my spoken Japanese, like the expression,  ほいで.

And rather that be ashamed, try to cover over it, I revel in the knowledge that the area is my second home,  referring myself to some of the Japanese (from other parts of Japan) on the project as the 三川武士。
