Is I suppose one way to describe feelings of resentment by those who have moved up the ladder in the U.S. towards those a few rungs below.
Ergo, wife unit complaining recently about some new co-worker in her part of Wegmans. The problem? These new hires speak little to no English.
There are reasons for this. One is the pay scale which few native-born Americans could or would work for. Second, Wegmans, at least in the store wife unit works at, has hired those starting out at the bottom rungs of the ladder and also those with disabilities, which on the surface is laudable.
Hiring those whose English skill are little to non-existent does pose problems and friction, but in the grater picture I tell wife unit it all a part of what so call the American Experience.
